The difference between Copelandia and Cubensis Mushrooms

Hallucinogenic mushrooms have been part of human history since the earliest time. In caves on the Tassili plateau in Algeria, old paintings of mushrooms dating from 5,000 B.C. have been found. Central and South American cultures built temples for mushroom gods and carved out "mushroom stones". These stone sculptures in the form of mushrooms, or in which figures are depicted under the hat of a mushroom, are dated to 1000-500 BC. About the Cubensis Mushrooms

Psilocybe cubensis is a mushroom of which the main active components are psilocybin and psilocin. The mushrooms are red cinnamon-brown to golden-brown in colour and when bruised, they turn blue/purple when bruised by oxidation of their psilocin content. Cubensis fruits are best in a 100% moist atmosphere. Fruit bodies will grow in less than saturated air, but the primordia will not form very well. Cubensis will be much more tolerant to changes in humidity when a coating is used.

According to Sahagún, the psychoactive mushrooms which were ingested by the Aztec priests and their followers. The varieties most likely to have been used by the Aztecs are Psilocybe caerulescens and Psilocybe mexicana. Psilocybe cubensis. The Psilocybe Cubensis is very popular because it is easy to locate and cultivate.

Where they Grow

Psilocybe cubensis is a coprophilic fungus (it likes manure) that often colonizes the dung of large herbivores, most notably cows and goats. It prefers humid grasslands and has been found in tropical and subtropical environments. It has been found in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela in South America. It has also been found throughout Thailand, Cambodia, India, and Australia. Psilocybe cubensis can be found where humidity is above 85% a lot of the time, and where grass-eating mammals are.

Characteristics

Bruising: dark purple-brown to black.
Body: : 4 till 15 cm long, 0.4 till 1-5 cm thick, dry, white, yellow or brown.

The difference in effects

The Copelandia Mushroom is smaller than the Psilocybe Cubensis Mushroom. Do not be fooled however by its small size. Apart from being 4 to 5 times stronger than Cubensis. Its chemical makeup is very different. Copelandia mushrooms when fresh contain a much higher psilocin to psilocybin ratio and this is what gives them their signature visual trip. The clear geometrical patterns one experiences during a Copelandia trip are more detailed and brighter than the visuals from Cubensis. The Copelandia trip also produces a low body load and this tends to give the user a sense of calm and wellbeing.
